Critérium International & Gand Wevelgem - Pinot reigns supreme, Démare stays on top form
Thibaut Pinot has been imperial this week-end on the roads of Corsica. Winning the first time trial of his career on Saturday, he wore the yellow jersey during Sunday’s final stage.
The least we can say is that the rider of Team FDJ and his teammates managed tactics perfectly. He certainly had in mind last year’s scenario, when he had the same status of favorite, but had been too impatient and had to let the final victory go to Jean-Christophe Péraud.
This time, he let his opponents run out. His teammates Reichenbach and Geniez ensured a perfect tempo for a big part of the climb before letting Pinot conclude the work. 1.5kms from the finish in the highest percentages, Pinot raised the pace and dropped Pierre Latour (AG2R), the only rider still on his wheel. He finished first at the top of the Ospedale, and strengthened his first place overall.
3 wins in one weekend, exemplary teamwork ... A perfect weekend for Team FDJ! Next appointment for Pinot is in April: the Tour of the Basque Country and the Tour de Romandie.

At the same time, a second group of Team FDJ riders were in Belgium for the launch of the Classics.
On Gent-Wevelgem, Arnaud Démare confirmed his current great form, as he won the peloton’s sprint and thus took 5th place, in a race won by world champion Peter Sagan.
In the UCI rankings, Démare also appears in 5th place after his huge season start (winning notably at Paris-Nice and Milan-San Remo).
